Description:
Antique Christmas tree garland from Lauscha, dating to around 1920. The delicate hollow glass beads were dipped in gelatin colours and threaded onto tinsel. Silver and gold tones alternate with rich red and vibrant pink. The fine metallic tinsel gives the garland a wonderfully decorative, nostalgic character. The glass beads show age-related paint loss and some dulling of the silvering. The tinsel has acquired a natural patina, adding to its historic charm. A collectable Christmas decoration, ideal for a medium to large goose-feather Christmas tree. Guaranteed antique – not a reproduction.
Glasschmuck aus Lauscha / Christbaumschmuck aus Glas:
Seit Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts wird in Lauscha gläserner Christbaumschmuck in Heimarbeit hergestellt. Ein Auftragsbuch belegt bereits 1848 die Fertigung von Weihnachtskugeln. Die mundgeblasenen Stücke wurden innen verspiegelt, in Farbe getaucht und teilweise mit Glimmer verziert. Der Ausbau der Gasversorgung und der Export in die USA ab etwa 1880 förderten die Verbreitung des Lauschaer Christbaumschmucks.
