Description:
A charming goose feather Christmas tree dating from the 1940s, originating from Gablonz in former Czechoslovakia. Its tiered branches are crafted from wire wrapped with green-dyed goose feathers. A green-painted wooden cross forms the stand. The tree is richly decorated with old Christmas ornaments, including colourful glass baubles with various decorative finishes, glass birds with delicate fibre tails, small toadstools and other ornaments. A tinsel garland with cotton wool bells winds around the branches. Wax candles in metal holders and small glass candles with red tips at the branch ends complete the arrangement. A slender glass tree topper with a pink ball and silver-coloured spire crowns the tree. The preserved patina and visible age-related wear to the tree and its decorations lend this ensemble its distinctive historic charm. A delightful collector’s piece evoking the Christmas traditions of a bygone era. Guaranteed old – not a reproduction.
